Oneonta (N66), NY

If you'r just looking for a spot to head for on the cusp of an autumn day, consider Oneonta (N66), NY. Although known to most folks as the home of a state college, it's less than a 2 hour (C172) flight from ISP and within easy proximity to both the Baseball Hall of Fame and the Soccer Hall of Fame. (Cooperstown does have a field, but its 2300 turf). Oneonta is 4200 asphalt.

Fall colors should be pretty rich in this direction by mid-October, so a VFR trip up north will yield more than the usual pleasures of flight. As a college town, Oneonta has a plethora of eateries. Dream of a cuisine aloft and you'll find it when you land.
