ISP MECHANICS:

Ken Miller
A & P Mechanic,
Aircraft Inspector

My earliest recollection in life was the sight of the three round tails of a Super Constellation looming over the Amarillo Air Terminal. I was three. I’ve built hundreds of aircraft from sticks, glue, tissue paper, cardboard, plastic and composites. The first ones were when I was 7 or 8, and the last one was a 1:1 scale homebuilt called a Long-EZ. I’ve built and owned two of these unusual and great aircraft and have over 2000 hours in type since 1983. My wife Diane has accompanied me from coast to coast, border to border in our little aircraft over the last 16 years.

My mechanic career started early learning from my father who was a tractor mechanic in the Panhandle of Texas as a kid. I’ve been working on full size certificated aircraft since the early ‘80’s and now hold an A&P license with I.A. privileges.

My specialty is composites fabrication and repair including mold making, carbon fiber and other exotics. I’ve repaired or fabricated parts for everything from small homebuilts to Sikorski Helicopters and Gulfstream V’s. Hobbies: Golf plays me when I give it a chance. I also have collected several American Flyer toy train sets which I plan to display in a detailed layout one day.

HWV MECHANICS:

Greg Woltmann
A & P Mechanic

My interest in aviation started as a young boy (my father was an engineer at Grumman on the F-14 Tomcat). I attended SUNY Farmingdale for Aerospace Technology. I earned my A&P mechanics license, as well as my Private Pilot Certificate and have over 20 years of aviation maintenance experience.

In my free time I attend about a dozen airshows every year, including what was the best show ever, “The Gathering of Mustangs and Legends” in 2007 in Columbus, Ohio.

I also enjoy hiking and mountain biking. But my favorite pastime is traveling the country (especially the American Southwest), collecting rocks, minerals and fossils. I have a special interest in dinosaur fossils of the Canyonlands in Utah. Today my collection is a museum that consists of over 10 tons of rock.
