Growing up, Aaron would zoom around his parents’ South Dakota farmyard in his little pedal airplane reliving his family’s last aerial commute. So it is only natural that he can’t remember a time before he had an interest in aviation.
Before pursuing a career as a pilot, however, Aaron took a few detours and earned an associate’s degree in photography and a bachelor’s in range science (as in “home, home on the”).
Somewhere in there he also picked up his private pilot’s license and married his college sweetheart. As newlyweds, they ran off to Puerto Rico, where Aaron participated in the active aviation scene, earning his instrument, commercial, and multi-engine ratings.
In the fall of 2007, Aaron and his wife relocated to Long Island where he was able to finish up his instructor certificate at Mid Island. He is now proud to hold a job teaching others to enjoy flying as much as he does. “This is probably the coolest job I’ve ever had,” he enthused, pondering his varied prior employment as a photographer, farmer, maintenance man, and waiter.
When not flying, taking pictures, or herding cattle, Aaron might be found running, bicycling, swimming, unicycling, sailing or spending quality time with his wife
