Mike grew up on the north side of Detroit, MI. He stated flying at the age of 10 and soloed an airplane for the first time when he was 16 years old. He went on to get his private pilot certificate and instrument rating at age 17 and his commercial pilot and flight instructor certificates at age 18. Mike has been an active flight instructor for the last six years, teaching at a number of flight schools including Western Michigan University. In addition to being a flight instructor, Mike also has a passion for aerobatic flight.
Mike starting flying aerobatics at the age of 15 and currently teaches aerobatics in the Extra 300. During the airshow season, he travels around the country working as a pilot and crew chief for airshow performer Michael Mancuso.
Mike has nearly 3,000 flight hours in more than 30 types of aircraft and is also a certified A&P aircraft mechanic.
Mike used to work as an automotive mechanic and still enjoys working on cars. He also enjoys music and plays several instruments.
