Ryan Blackford began flying when he was 14 at Mid-Island’s Brookhaven location and at age 18, earned his Private pilot certificate under the instruction of Gary Spence. Soon after, it was off to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University where Ryan is pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Aeronautical Science with a minor in Air Traffic Management.
After working as a lineman at HWV, Ryan was given the opportunity to become a dispatcher and continued his career with MIAS. After earning his instrument, commercial, CFI, and CFII in Florida , Ryan came back as a part time instructor at Brookhaven. Upon graduating in May 2009, he plans on coming back full time to the company.
When not at MIAS, Ryan works and volunteers as an Emergency Medical Technician in his community.
His other hobbies include road trips and any kind of water sports. Him and his girlfriend, Kristine, enjoy exploring new places and going out with friends.
Future plans include earning his MEI and obtaining his Masters degree. Eventually, Ryan would like to make it to the airlines or a corporate flight department but in his own words, “I am perfectly happy with where I am right now, on Long Island and working for Mid-Island.”
