As long as I can remember, I have always looked to the sky and dreamed of flying. My interest in aviation has its roots in very early childhood, when I attended air shows, collected model aircraft, and watched aviation-based movies. I wanted to fly more than anything else in the world. As I grew into young adulthood, my desire to pursue aviation did not fade in the slightest. Rather, it grew stronger, and merged with a desire to serve my country.

In middle school, I grew interested in pursuing a career in the United States Air Force. I saw an Air Force career as the perfect way to enter the field of aerospace and fulfill my long time dream, while also satisfying my desire for service. In my sophomore year of high school, a friend told me about Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the Air Force, and its youth cadet program. Soon, I attended my first Civil Air Patrol squadron meeting. There, I noticed the military environment of the cadet program and the outstanding aerospace education given by adult members.

Seeing CAP as an excellent foundation for my potential career, I became a cadet member. Since then, I received countless invaluable experiences that otherwise could not have been possible. I participated in four orientation flights, my first opportunities to actually fly a plane. I attended an encampment, where I attended classes in leadership and aerospace, and even flew on an Air Force C-130. My experiences in Civil Air Patrol have further motivated me to pursue a career in aerospace.
