Elmira/Corning Regional Airport (ELM), NY

Oneof the more ignored regions of New York State (alas, many folks think the state is a big waterfall on one end, accompanied by an even bigger city on the other) is the Southern Tier. This beautiful, rolling region extends from the western edge of the Catskills to the shore of Lake Erie and contains some of the most remarkable villages in the state.

To best experience the Tier, we suggest the 2 1/2 hr hop (C172) to Elmira/Corning Regional Airport (ELM). ELM is a towered field with a 7000' runway surrounded by a host of worthy attractions. The National Soaring Museum, National War Plane Museum, Corning Glass Center and Mark Twain's home are all an easy cab ride away. (Rental cars also available at the airport).
ELM is not just an excuse to fly, but a great day's outing
