Before heading for Harrisburg, you should keep in mind that there are two major airports: Capital City (CXY) which is actually the general aviation field and Harrisburg International (MDT) which serves the airlines. Each has its plus and minus. Capital City is easily more accommodating to general aviation, but is on the west bank of the Susquehanna River and away from town. MDT does have the heavy metal, but approach, Tower and the local FBO all welcomed us graciously. The choice is yours.

As Harrisburg is the state capital, the area abounds in historic pleasures. Visit the state capitol, drive along the Susquehanna, head for the nearby Amish lands or take a look at the 3 Mile Island power plant, site of America's homegrown nuclear cliff hangar.
Harrisburg is about two hours (C172) from ISP making for an easy outing..
