Here's a jaunt to a place that may be closer than you think. Martinsburg (MRB), WV is approximately 2 1/2 hours (C172) from ISP. Located at the eastern most extremity of the West Virginia panhandle, it is a scant 60 miles west of Washington and yet is able to maintain a distinct down home flavor.

The field is tower controlled and the area around it is one of bucolic farmland and gently rolling hills. As this is apple country, it is particularly pretty in early Spring, when the local orchards are a carpet of white. Martinsburg itself is big enough to afford numerous dining options and is also the site of a major outlet center (just in case the Tanger Outlet in Riverhead hasn't satiated your shopping lust).
Martinsburg simply rates as a pleasant place for a flight. There is no particular glitz of major attraction, just a piece of geography that might not normally register in your consciousness. It's a flight option that could be just the fix on a blue and breezy Spring day.
