Although not known for obvious scenic beauty, Delaware and its Wilmington Airport (New Castle County, ILG) present an interesting option for the pilot looking to take a two hour (C172) sojourn. While you can easily pass on the ciyt of Wilmington itself, the airport places you a mere 30 minutes east of Pennsylvania's gorgeous Brandywine Valley, made famous by the painter, Andrew Wyeth, or 30 minutes west of Cape Henlopin and the surprisingly attractive beaches of lower Delaware Bay and the Atlantic.


All the major car rental firms are on the field, so getting around is easy. Although the traffic, roadside tackiness and industrial gunk around the airport may make you wonder where we sent you, trust us, scenic beauty will quickly prevail.
