Abigail Kubanovich

My name is Abigail and I’m striving for my biggest dream, flight. It’s been hard growing up with a broken foundation in my family, but I never gave up. My dream is to some day soar the skies as an airline pilot. So far with my involvement in aviation, every payment made has been made by me or from the help of the Suffolk Aviation Academy at the Eastern Long Island Academy for Applied Technology. My desire for aviation started as a young child asking myself: How does an aircraft so easily defy physics? Shouldn’t gravity just pull the aircraft out of the sky? These questions helped me navigate through my life until I finally learned that it’s more than just gravity. After being enlightened through my professional pilot course my fundamental aviation questions have been answered: The shape of the airfoils helps create a strong lifting force, and gravity is overcome by the force of air beneath the wings causing the plane to defy gravity. Now with the experience of flying Cessna 172’s, my desire has only grown stronger to pursue a career in aviation. I will continue to push so that I will complete my private pilots licence before graduation so I may have a headstart in my career. I will be attending Lynn University in the fall of 2023 with my major being Aviation Management to continue my determination and dedication to aviation. Money had always gotten in the way of my dream, but with the help from the Suffolk Aviation Academy and working extra shifts to help continue my progress in aviation my dream can be made possible.
